I'm tracking with you pretty much, but I think maybe I disagree in your last paragraph here. Maybe not.

I see the distinction you draw between worship and service, Moses wrote it: Fear the Lord your God, serve him only (Deut. 6.13)
Jesus quoted him: Worship the Lord your God and serve him only (Matt 4.10)

But there are some thoughts before Deuteronomy 6:13 -
Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength that are followed with instructions about how to go about making that a reality. Makes it difficult to draw a line between the two - at least in my thinking.

When Paul told his readers in Rome to present their bodies a living sacrifice in light of God's mercy (end of Romans 11, beginning of 12) it has an all-inclusive tone about it.

I wonder if we've really made worship everything - or maybe we just say we have. Perhaps we have broadened the definition or description for the sake of discussion, but I'm not really convinced we're always sincere when we sing Dennis Jernigan's "You are my all in all".

Is the insincerity, the discrepancy, in the words we choose? or in the lives we live? or both.

I'm still not sure - am I disagreeing with you? Or just looking at things from a different place at the table? :-) Stimulating thoughts! Thanks!
